what will they sell next?
the girlfriend showed me this article yesterday:
As quietly as a peeping Tom, Amazon.com has amassed quite a collection of sex toys in its Health & Personal Care store.That's right -- they've got vibrators, lube, leather harnesses ... 38,990 items to be exact, contained within the Sex & Sexuality subcategory.
Most, if not all, of those seem to be listed by third-party sellers, though the magnitude of Amazon's offerings made a complete check rather cumbersome. And Amazon never advertised this one in a press release

hmmmm....so i looked. did a little comparison shopping. amazon can beat the prices of most of the online toy stores, but i'm not so sure i like the idea of buying my next, ahem, sensual aid, from them. this is taking one stop shopping a bit too far.
besides, i prefer going to a specific, sex positive, woman centered kind of place to browse and get recommendations. sigh...will this put places like good vibrations and toys in babeland out of business? i hope not.
so i say "support your independent, sex-positive, non-women objectifying establishment!" amazon has enough money!

tired and hungry. that's a good way to start off my monday.
and it's too hot to do anything. so i'm watching the dust collect on my bookshelves and sitting on an ice blanket.
need to go somewhere with air conditioning. people are smelly when it's this hot.

yesterday i came home from work to find that the girlfriend had cleaned my desk and the kitchen and made everything look nice and tidy.

here's the thing
so the girlfriend and i were at dinner last night. a pretty fancy affair with real tablecloths and multiple forks. very nice.
the trio of women sitting near us--not so nice. try loud and drunk. and talking about interesting things like how their drinks somehow resembled female breasts. i believe areolas were mentioned more than a few times. did i forget to say that this was a nice, quiet restaurant?
the best part of the evening, however, came about when i heard what i thought was someone sliding over a leather seat or something--you know when it kind of sounds like someone's let out a fart but then it turns out to be that adjusting the butt on a leather or vinyl surface? well i looked over to see the guy adjusting his rear end to better facilitate the release of an obnoxious sounding, vibrating moment of gas. tmi? too bad. because i had to hear it twice more before that couple left.
i'll continue my story some other time. right now, i'm a bit grossed out remembering the details...

errand day!
or is that errant day? in any case, i got my ass out of bed instead of sleeping all day, which is really all i wanted to do, so that i could get some stuff done before i leave on vacation.
in no particular order:
picked up my pants from the cleaners
got the mail
had new lenses put in my glasses and sunglasses
bought new sunglasses to wear with my new contacts
picked up my replacement trial contact lens
bought facial moisturizer with sunscreen from the body shop
returned a bag i bought at robinson's may
got a pedicure
i still have to go to acupuncture in 1/2 an hour and then help the girlfriend finish packing.

still a dumbass
remember how i got new contacts on friday? well, they're a trial pair. i have a ridiculous time with contacts because my eyes are so dry. but i hate having to wear my glasses all the time. so i'm trying these new fangled ones out, supposedly they're fda approved for dry eyes. whatever.
the point is moot. i've already managed to split one of the contacts in half.

a not so nice time at the bowl
so far.
let's see... we walked in with our dinner and sat down near this guy who had been on a plane all night. hadn't bathed. obviously because he smelled so bad i had a hard time eating dinner...
the conductor introduced a piece that had something called a chinese cymbal. then he had the drummer demonstrate and said, "charlie chan will be right out." i gave him the finger but i don't think he noticed. was i wrong to be offended by this?
and to top it all off...ok, i appreciate the compliments on my voice after the national anthem. but it sucks that you and your friends proceed to talk through the entire first half and i can't tell you to shut the fuck up. what is it about music with no words that makes people think that they can talk through it? to top that off, when he guy down ront did a big "sshhhh!!!!" all they did was say, "did he just shhh??" and continued to talk about that for the next song.
i need a cocktail.

cuz i'm a dumbass
so i'm getting new contact lenses tomorrow. just in time for my vacation. the only problem is that since it's been so long since i've worn contacts, i've completely forgotten where i put my regular sunglasses. i have two pair, just waiting to be brought back into the sunlight.
sigh...now what am i going to do?

this is getting out of hand
so i played the sims2 today. ALL DAY LONG. i finally saved and shut off the game about 45 minutes ago. if only i was this focused about oh, i don't know, work or something that could potentially make me millions of dollars.
all i have to show for my game playing today is a very sore right forearm and the beginnings of carpal tunnel, i'm sure of it.

new toy part 2
i've spent the last week or so transferring songs to my new mp3 player. it's the creative NOMAD jukebox zen xtra 30gb.
i'm so excited! i tested the battery after the first charge and it lasted almost 12 hours. plus, with the travel speakers i also purchased, i can play any music in my library while i play the sims2 on my computer and without disturbing the neighbors with the booming of the subwoofer on the pc. i have yet to hook the thing up to regular headphones but i figure that'll sound great too.
the hardest part has been modifying all of my mp3s so they come up in the menu the way i want them to. that means including track #, title, artist, album, and genre in every listing. musicmatch does supertagging from the filename (i already have 4 out of the 5 categories in the filename) but the software that came with the jukebox doesn't have that feature. it's a long and arduous process. had i thought about it, i would've made sure everything was in order before i transferred the files, but oh well...

new toy
i got a little happy with the credit card last week. in addition to my new monitor, i bought a new mp3 player to replace that a friend of mine borrowed and then lost. i also got new speakers for it. they'll both come in handy when i go on vacation...more details about the mp3 player when i have the energy to dig up the specs...

the only good news about the giants
is that they aren't in the american league. with the record that they have, they'd be in last place in the west and like 14 1/2 games behind the angels. instead, they're in second to last place (in front of the rockies) and only 5 games out of first.
barry bonds says he probably won't play the rest of the season. did anyone expect him to?
