i need to know

if i'm the only one who thinks this is strange:

german shepherd dog

i mean, isn't that redundant? or are we separating the canine from the deutschman who keeps his flock in the hills overlooking that convent that fraulein maria came from?

wanna know what else?

ink pen. as in, "yo, lemme see that ink pen for a second."

my friend says that all the time. doesn't "pen" imply ink? ok, so not vice versa, but don't we all know that pens contain ink? weird.
