vegas, baby!
i get to go to vegas twice in 10 days. the first time is with my parents, which means i don't have to pay for anything. of course, we're staying an extra night so we have to pay for that. is it bad that i half heartedly protest that my parents try to pay? i mean, i'm 31 years old, should i pay for my own stuff? of course i should. but sometimes it's fun to be taken care of...

so i'm off to laverne, a town that's about *this* big, to sing in a concert that is being sponsored by the homo center at the university of laverne.
since it'll take me til next weekend if i try to leave during rush hour(s), i'm leaving now, going to spend a little time at ikea, and then onward.
whee. and i'm using a day of vacation for this?

crazy weekend
so saturday i decided it was high time to clean the girlfriend's closet. there was so much stuff on the floor she couldn't get into the drawers. we both have walk-in closets, hers is taken up by two dressers and the rods can only hold shirts. anyway, everything got put away and i vacuumed up the dust bunnies and spiders lurking in the corners.
then it was off to the container store to find bigger boxes in which to store my shoes. i got a case of the "men's shoeboxes" and some other stuff to aid in our my home organization quest.
dinner was across the street at akbar, my favorite indian restaurant. although i like the service better at the one in santa monica, the food was still great.
then it was back home to start organizing! things started going into boxes and off the floor, out of the moving boxes they'd been in since we moved last year. at around 2 am, we called it quits and went to bed.
the girlfriend had somewhere to be sunday morning, so i spent the time alone organizing my closet, moving file boxes to the back, unpacking computer stuff, bringing out my summer clothes and storing my "winter" (you east coast people better not laugh at me) clothing in boxes. it took almost the entire weekend, but i'm pretty satisfied with the turnout.

my girlfriend is jealous
because i have a crush on a woman at work. oh my god, she's hot. and it's not because she's particularly beautiful, either. there's just something about her...
but the girlfriend is pretty hot, too. i've had a crush on her for like 8 years...
it's nice to know i can say stuff like this and she still loves me, right?

but my picture is going to be part of an exhibit in nyc of tattooed API women. at least i think it is. do you know how hard it is to get your calf and your face in the same picture when you're as fat-assed as i am? we're talking major contortions going on.

it was a struggle, but
i managed to pay off my credit card with my tax return. oh, there was so much stuff i wanted to buy! but alas, i already spent all that money on my dental work and doctor bills that i felt the need to get some breathing room.
besides, i'll need the credit card when i go to vegas at the end of the month!

giants vs dodgers: i love this rivalry. so far they're splitting the series but tonight i hope they pull it off.

yes, reduced fat cheese nips (i know i shouldn't buy them out of principle, but they're good!) have less fat in them than regular cheese nips, but if you eat the whole box, it defeats the purpose of having reduced anything. fucking glutton...

foot fetish?
i have my shoes in my closet in boxes. each of my shoe boxes is used for two different pair of shoes, winter and summer, of course. so one side has a picture of my "summer" shoe, the other, "winter." and into the boxes they go. but having different sized boxes means i have to be strategic in the placement of said boxes.
so a few weeks ago, i was all excited because i bought plastic "deluxe shoe boxes" from costco and i thought my problems were over. they were clear, so the pictures of the shoes were now moot, and they were all the same size!
only they're too small for my dyke-y shoes. the doc martens and skechers don't fit. nor do the boots, which i knew about beforehand. so now i have 28 plastic boxes sitting on the floor in the office. i'd put the girlfriend's shoes in them, but that's a project i'm not willing to undertake at the moment. she has crates of shoes. i kid you not.
i suppose i could use them for storage. sigh...i was so looking forward to bringing order to my crazy little shoe-world.

coming up for air
totally unmotivated to clean my house, so i've been playing the sims2 off and on since yesterday afternoon.
my car's back from the dealer and i'm a grand poorer, or at least i will be when i pay off my credit card. sheesh! but i got a lot of stuff fixed that needed to be fixed, and now maybe my dad won't freak out as much when i drive to vegas by myself at the end of the month. it's not as if i've never taken a long drive by myself, i'm 31, for chrissakes! it's nice that he worries, i guess...

and i'd provide them all for your listening enjoyment, but i'm trying to clean my house before i meet the girlfriend for lunch and i pick up my car, which i took into the dealership this morning for service.
once again, "errand friday" holds up to its name.
UPDATE i've been told that they need to keep my car overnight. see, the switch for my window was sticky, rendering at least one valet guy to pray that it didn't rain on his watch. anyway, instead of them putting it all back together and letting me take the car home today, they're ordering the part, which will come in tomorrow, and they'll put the part in and put the car back together tomorrow. so i'm without car until tomorrow afternoon. yay!
