getting a grip

stanfordbball.jpg
i've already got a nervous stomach about tomorrow's game. stanford against michigan state. here's to the #2 seed beating the #1 seed.

oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please...

if you have not a care who advances to the final four, please send good vibes/mojo/etc. to stanford.

and here's the most fun part about it: i'll be in the car, on the way home, most of the first half. i leave work around 4:00-4:30ish, so i'll be in traffic, hoping that the tivo doesn't all of a sudden take a shit and somehow not record the game.

me? neurotic? whoever would think such a thing?

elite 8!

Stanford_WIN.jpg
it was looking pretty bad at halftime, but the stanford women pulled through and beat uconn to advance to the elite 8. now they have to play michigan state.

these things make me very tense. the girlfriend won't even sit next to me if stanford's playing poorly. i wonder if my choir director will let me stay home to watch the game on tuesday night...?

See it if you can...

wicked.jpg
So we listened to and sang through a bunch of new music for our upcoming june concert on tuesday night. among the songs were selections from the broadway show, Wicked, music and lyrics by stephen schwartz of godspell and pippin fame. oh and he collaborated with alan menken on disney's pocahontas, too. anyway, the show is based on the book written by gregory maguire and it's great.

i picked up the soundtrack at amoeba (i got out of there spending only $76.00, can you believe it?) on wednesday and i've been listening to it ever since.

and can i just say that i liked kristin chenoweth before, but i really like her now?

anyway, wicked is going to be touring. it's coming to los angeles in june, see it if you can!

dorkus maximus

i spent five (!) hours building a house for the girlfriend's sims in the sims2 university expansion pack on friday... i was a total dork, i went online to cool house plans and printed out copies of floorplans and then used the floorplans to build a six five bedroom 4 1/2 5 1/2 bath home. the hardest part had been the roof. but i even figured that out! i'll post a picture when i get a chance. i'm very proud of it!

UPDATE: here are the pictures. a little blurry, but the best i could do...and yes, it does bug me that the roofline is not symmetrical in the front of the house. but i can't figure out how to fix that.

go stanford!!!!

the stanford women are heavy in the running for the ncaa title. but first things first, they have to beat michigan state uconn (i was a little hasty in this entry previously. stanford meets uconn, the winner of that game takes on either michigan state or vanderbilt). i love march madness!!!!!

one of the best things in the world

is pizza. specifically, round table pizza. it may be a northern california thing, but my friend k and i absolutely adore it. even my brother will go out of his way to have round table. and every time we're at my parents' house, we have to have it at least once.

Round Table Pizza is the fifth largest pizza chain in the U.S. with over 500 restaurants in nine western states and five foreign countries. Headquartered in Concord, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, Round Table has built a reputation as the pizza brand of choice and market share leader in the most competitive and discriminating restaurant markets in the country. We are recognized throughout the West for gourmet taste, quality and menu innovation.

call it a reminder of home, of childhood, whatever. i love it! and i got some today, because the girlfriend wanted me to go with her on an errand and bribed me with it. mmmm, pizza!

wanna see something weird?

ugly_bruise_1_crop.JPG

it's a bruise. from acupuncture. yay. please ignore the stretch marks and miscellaneous other ugliness. focus on the bruise. gotta get my fat ass back to the gym. and trust me, you don't want to see this any bigger.

what's that on your face?

so i wear glasses. and they used to fuck up my hair on the sides because of the whole flippy, loopy action my hair did around the ear pieces. so i shaved my sideburns up to the tops of my ears.

then i got laser hair removal on my face and supposedly took care of that shaving thing. but they didn't do it far enough up my face. now i have hair about 1/2" long coming down like really ugly sideburns. the thing is, i either have to wait this out (like a bad haircut) or i have to keep shaving the fuckers. but right now if i'm not careful how i put on my glasses, the hair sticks straight out of my head. oooh, that's so damned attractive!

annoyed at the lack of results i got with my laser hair removal. there's less hair, but hair nonetheless.

"blog" is now official

i guess webster's is keeping up with the joneses (any grammar help on that sentence would be most appreciated.). they've added four six 58 new words to the dictionary, among them the word "blog."

now don't we all feel special?

on another note, my mt was upgraded and didn't work on my ipaq for a long time. yesterday a miracle happened and i not only got blacklist installed but i can now blog from my ipaq. isn't life grand?

things i will blog about

this week, if and when i've the motivation to do so:

NCAA tourney (march madness has me glued to the tv)

my upgraded computer (and massive suffering for an hour while installing said upgrades)

my visit with my allergist, dentist, acupuncturist, and manicurist (waaay too many "-ists" for one day!)

the parents' visit

why i think coke with lime is not such a good idea.

where have i been?

haven't blogged for a while, mostly because i'm really tired about blogging about how sick i've been, how bad i feel, etc., etc.

so our concert was last night, it went really well, it was well received and my aunt and uncle really enjoyed themselves. if you've not had a chance to hear the albert mcneil jubilee singers, i highly recommend it.

now i'm just waiting for my parents to come back here so i can go to bed. it's been a very long weekend.

did i mention my pedicure on friday? and the crazy postal-worker lady who was getting her nails done at the same time?

maybe i'll post about that tomorrow.

will it ever stop?

the pain, i mean. this sucks man.

but on the upside, the vicodin seems to be taking effect more readily than before. so maybe i won't wince every time i move my left arm anymore.

or maybe i can get better drugs from my doctor. i get to see her on friday. well, this is my allergist. but she'll still give me drugs if i ask really nice.

the parents and my uncle and aunt are coming for the weekend to see me perform in the concert on saturday night. hopefully there will be no coughing fits in the middle of the performance. and they're all staying at our house, which should make for some interesting moments, considering there's only one shower. but at least we have a 1/2 bath, too.

i'm kind of excited. we've never really had a place where we can have guests, so this is new to me. but it'll be stressful, too. all the cleaning i have to do before then is daunting...

and did i forget to mention

that i bought the sims2 university expansion pack last week?

i've not yet installed it because i'm scared it'll make the game even slower, but i have it! yay!

why i love my neighborhood

i just went to the pharmacy to pick up my 21098409823012 prescription, only it wasn't ready yet. so i bought doritos instead. and i guess i missed the pocket in my bag when i was putting my wallet away, because they found it on the floor in front of the cash register.

so the nice boy from the pharmacy called me and let me know it was with the manager. i ran back to the pharmacy and now all is right with my world. phew!

are your taxes done?

mine are. and i'm getting a considerable amount back, most of which will go towards my skyrocketing credit card bill. but since there's no way i'm going to actually save any of it, i've been thinking of what to invest in...

1. a new computer, so my sims2 doesn't stutter across the screen anymore.

2. a new bag. prada. it looks like this, minus that website addie they put over it. sigh...it's so much nicer than my adidas bag...

prada.gif

in actuality, do you think the girlfriend will let me spend that much money on a bag?

[RESPONSE FROM THEGIRLFRIEND: NO.]

food makes me happy

i've got to disassociate good feelings with food. cuz then when i have a bad day, i don't go overboard and eat a box of poptarts.

of course, then i wouldn't be able to lift my mood like i did tonight: garlic mashed potatoes saved the world!

it's friday

and i spent the day doing medical things. yay.

went and had a dr appt this morning at 8 am cuz i'm a masochist, and then went to see an acupunturist. because, yes, i like needles. stuck in my stomach.

just thinking about it makes me nauseous.

thinking about going in to work tomorrow. that, too, makes me nauseous.

vicodin. the godsend

what i wouldn't do do be feeling somewhat normail these days. on top of the coughing and asthma, there's always the hormones that make me nutty.

they also give me the occasional migraine. love sitting in traffic, unable to do anything but watch as the aura moves in and out of my vision, and know that i have a tiny window of time before i have to be flat on my back in bed in the dark or my head will split open.

but thanks to that trip to the ER earlier this week, i have a prescription for vicodin. wonderful stuff, if you can take enough of it early enough to ward off the pain. see, i've been taking 1/2 a pill so that i'm somewhat functional at work, but once i got home today, all bets were off and i took a whole one, which made me nice and toasty and fuzzy feeling.

now on my second pill in 5 hours, i should knock myself out just enough to sleep for a few hours before i have to be at the doctor's office at 8 am.

oh, and the migraine? it's a nice, dull, achy throb at the base of my skull, thank you.

i got a haircut!

and it's so nifty looking! i just wish i had time to get it straightened again. but spending 5 hours of my day at a salon with chemicals in my hair is not my idea of being productive, even if the result is really shiny, really straight hair.

at some point i'll get so tired of having my head look square, though, that i'll have to break down, spend another $300 and get it done again. square, you ask? yes, as my curly hair grows out, it seems to grow almost horizontally from my head, and the straight part drops off perpendicularly from the curly part, leaving a sort of blockish shape on top of my head. mmmm, hmmm, you bet it's attractive!

it's tuesday!

meme, courtesy of the fashmagslag:

I AM: short, round, funny, giving, and loving
I HAVE: an attitude problem, too many clothes, and a wonderful girlfriend
I WISH: i wasn’t so materialistic
I HATE: dumb people, people who don’t take me seriously, and people who are a waste of oxygen and space. Go away, more room for us perfect people!
I FEAR: not having enough time to spend with the people that i love
I HEAR: the soundtrack in my head. Songs that were on the radio on the way home, that were playing when my alarm went off this morning, that i’m supposed to be memorizing for my concert next weekend.
I WONDER: if i’ll ever act my age
I REGRET: being mean to my little brother when we were kids. Now, everything’s fair game
I LOVE: my friends, dogs, chocolate, and my new blankie from target
I ALWAYS: floss
I AM NOT: skinny, svelte, slender, or scrawny
I DANCE: when i drink, which is rarely. When i’m goofy with my girlfriend, which is often
I SING: every hour of every day. Even in my dreams.
I CRY: at tv. I’m a sucker for a good story.
YES or NO QUESTIONS
YOU KEEP A DIARY: nope. Just the blog
YOU LIKE TO COOK: with a definite recipe. Not just ‘throw a little of this or that in.’
YOU HAVE A SECRET YOU HAVE NOT SHARED WITH ANYONE: if i do, i’ve probably forgotten it.
DO YOU...?
HAVE A CRUSH: annie parisse, maggie cheung, that belly dancer from last weekend…
WANT TO GET MARRIED: if it’s legal, then yes.
GET MOTION SICKNESS: i can watch a boat on tv and get motion sickness.
THINK YOURE A HEALTH FREAK: that would be no. i prefer fried to fresh.
CURRENT HAIR COLOR: i think it’s my natural—brownish black
EYE COLOR: dark brown
BIRTHPLACE: san jose, ca
FAVORITE NUMBER: 22
COLOR: navy blue
DAY: friday
MONTH: july
SONG: oh, there are just so many!
SEASON: anytime there’s nothing blooming. Wait, that’s never…
DRINK: asahi, a good hefeweizen, or coke.
