my lungs are scaring me
because they're not working right. last night after i took the tussin with codeine, i thought i was good to go and went to sleep. i awoke three hours later to a hacking cough that was so violent i was unable to inhale after i expelled that breath. on the intake it sounded as if i was praticing some moose mating call, which i think was my lungs working like a vacuum, only i couldn't break the seal. it was a frightening experience, and i went through it three times last night and once this morning. not being able to get oxygen leaves me in panic mode, which only makes it worse. hopefully, without the codeine tonight, i'll be able to wake up periodically, expunge the phlegm from my throat and go back to sleep relatively peacefully.
or else i'll be in the er because my girlfriend freaked out about me not breathing.
one thing for sure, i'll be on the phone yet again with my allergist (and her lovely nurse) trying to get some oral steroids to keep my lungs expanded so i don't suffocate myself on accident.
