yesterday was my first session with the laser hair removal nurse. it was rather, um, interesting.
first, i'm not that tall, and the nurse was shorter than me, so i already felt gigantic. then, another "hair analyst" or whatever you want to call her, came in to do a consult about the hair on my upper lip, and she weighed, oh, 65 lbs. and i'm thinking, "i'm going to take off my clothes and lay on this bed here? anyone for a quick trip to the gym beforehand?"
anyway, the nurse started on my face, and the first zap was surprisingly painful. the method or laser tool or whatever they use involves a blast of freon (ok, not really, but it's cold like that and cools the skin but still allows the laser to penetrate the hair follicle) a millisecond before the laser blasts 1,298,492 tiny rays into your flesh. niiiice. then all i smelled was burning hair. gross. the nurse said that what hurts, really, is the hair is burning down to your skin. ever burned yourself on a curling iron or on the rack in the oven or something? feels kinda like that, but no blistering.
i had my sideburns, my upper lip, my underarms and my bikini done (tmi? what the hell do i care?) in less than an hour. it looks rather strange, the hair is all burned down to the skin but it hasn't fallen out yet. and it's making me nervous. what if i went through all of that and paid a shitload of money and it didn't work?

Posted by: daniel at July 28, 2004 10:53 PMoh the things i'll go through because i detest body hair! on me, of course. it doesn't bother me on anyone else. unless they have a hair suit. eew.
